Portugal - General Regime for the Prevention of Corruption and the definitive installation of "MENAC"
Within the scope of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, and with the purpose of promoting transparency and integrity in public action and ensuring the effectiveness of policies to prevent corruption and related offences, the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism ("MENAC") was created in 2022. Now, and after the entry into force of a set of legislative diplomas that created the human and material conditions necessary for its full operation, Ordinance No. 155-B/2023 of 6 June was published, concluding its definitive installation.

Spain - Updated summary of the grounds for nullity of dismissal, including the new features introduced by Royal Decree Law 5/2023
Royal Decree Law 5/2023, in force since 30 June 2023, incorporates new causes of "objective nullity" related to the rights of conciliation, a novelty that has already been widely commented on, and for this reason we believe it is appropriate to include in this article a summary of the causes of nullity of dismissal, including the new features included in the Royal Decree Law.

Spain - A new vision of the action of reimbursement between insurers. Judgment of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court 647/2023, of May 3rd.
In the case analysed by the Supreme Court, two insurers were involved in the same accident, with different policyholders. The injured party only brought his action against one of the insurers, which was convicted. In this judgement, the Supreme Court analyses the position of the insurer convicted in a previous criminal proceeding as directly liable and its possible action against the insurer to which the injured party did not direct the action but which also insured the same risk/injury with its policy.
